Gerard wees me al eerder op het oude sprookje over de Drie Prinsen van Serendib, daar moest de herkomst van het begrip Serendipiteit liggen. Nu komt Erica met de oplossing(?) uit de National Geographic van juli 1982:

During his sixth voyage Sindbad was shipwrecked on the island, then known as Serendib-the source for the word "serendipity". Sindbad's serendipitous finds included rubies and pearls.
